In the matter of : Prity Shaw
… Petitioner(s)
Ms. Sabrina Parveen
… for the Petitioner(s)
Mr. Ranadeb Sengupta Ms. Diksha Ghosh
… for the State-respondent(s)
Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a lady who is in custody for 206 days and chare-sheet has already been submitted, as such, prays that the petitioner may be released on bail. However, in course of the investigation, it reveals that, initially, 21.528 kg of ganja were recovered and, subsequently, another 12.140 kg of ganja were recovered. Having considered the huge quantity of contraband i.e., more than 32 kg of ganja, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail at this stage. Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.
2 However, as there are 4/5 seizure list witnesses, the petitioner would be at liberty to approach this court after the said witnesses are examined. Accordingly, CRM (NDPS) 555 of 2026 is dismissed. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
