It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the first respondent Corporation on 28.10.1985 and had retired from service on 31.05.2023. However, the Gratuity, P.F, Leave Salary and Commutation of Pension amount have been settled belatedly on 10.03.2025. Therefore, the petitioner claimed 10% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and he has also made representation on 20.12.2025 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which has not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition. 3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself. 4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 3906 of 2026 __________ Page4 of 5 5.
