According to petitioner, he applied for re- issuance of passport on 31.12.2024; however, no decision has been taken on his application. Learned counsel submits that passport issued to petitioner earlier expired on 02.05.2022. 3. It is submitted by learned counsel that earlier two FIRs were lodged against petitioner; charge-sheet was filed in respect of one FIR and in respect of another FIR, final/closure report was filed by the Investigating Agency. He submits that in the case in which charge-sheet was filed, petitioner was acquitted by Trial Court. Thus, it is contended that there is no criminal case pending against petitioner. 4. Learned counsel appearing for Union of India, however, submits that passport authorities received adverse police report and it was mentioned in the report that two criminal cases are pending against petitioner. 5. Learned counsel for the petitioner, however, submits that police report is not correct, as 2026:UHC:4667 petitioner has been acquitted in the only case in which charge-sheet was filed against him. 6. Be that as it may, since petitioner has sought a writ of mandamus, therefore, this Court thinks that ends of justice would be met if petitioner is permitted to make representation to Regional Passport Officer highlighting all aspects. 7. Accordingly, writ petition is disposed of by permitting petitioner to make representation. If he makes representation within two weeks, enclosing therewith copy of judgment rendered by Trial Court in the case in which petitioner was reportedly acquitted and also the copy of final/closure report submitted by Investigating Agency with order passed by Court concerned, whereby closure report was accepted. 8. If petitioner makes such representation within stipulated time, Regional Passport Officer concerned shall look into the matter and pass appropriate order, as per law, within four weeks of making such representation.
