The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this is the third anticipatory bail application. He further submitted that he is ready to abide by any conditions that may be imposed by this Court and that he is ready to cooperate with the investigation. Hence, he prayed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 4. Per contra, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police reiterated the prosecution case and further submitted that the quantity of contraband involved in this case is 62 kg. Hence, he opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. 5. I have given my anxious consideration to either side submissions. 6.Considering the nature of offence, the fact that the quantity of banned tobacco involved (62kg) is substantial, and also considering the interest of society at large, this Court is of the view that, the petitioner does not deserve anticipatory bail. Hence, this Court is not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on anticipatory bail. 7. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 16-04-2026 ep https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL OP No. 9535 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 To 1.The Inspector of Police Manavalanagar Police station, Thiruvallur District. 2.The Public Prosecutor High Court of Madras. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis CRL OP No. 9535 of 2026 __________ Page4 of 4 C.KUMARAPPAN, J. ep CRL OP No. 9535 of 2026 16-04-2026 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
