Mr. Debanjan Mukherjee ….for the WBSEDCL The grievance of the petitioner is directed against the failure of the respondent authorities to provide a separate electricity connection to the premises of the petitioner. It is submitted by the WBSEDCL that the directions in terms of order dated 06.01.2026 have been complied with. Pursuant to an earlier order of Court, the Report filed by the WBSEDCL is taken on records. It appears from the Report that there has been objections raised by the local residents. In view of the fact that the petitioner seeks an essential service there is no justifiable reason as to why the WBSEDCL should be prevented from carrying out their statutory functions. It is also submitted on behalf of the WBSEDCL that all formalities have been complied with and the petitioner has paid the statutory dues as far back as in 2019. 2 In view of the above, WPA 16337 of 2025 stands disposed of by directing the WBSEDCL to provide an electricity connection to the subject premises with the assistance of the local police authorities. The WBSEDCL is granted liberty to install all necessary fittings including electric poles for low tension overhead line in accordance with law. If any request for police assistance is made, the respondent no. 3 is directed to give all necessary assistance in accordance with law. In view of the allegations made on behalf of the petitioner, the Officer-in-Charge, Onda Police Station, Bishnupur, Bankura is directed to ensure compliance with the above directions. The above exercise is to be completed with a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. (RAVI KRISHAN KAPUR, J.)
