1. Mr. Faizan Ali, learned counsel for the petitioners.
2. Mr. Sandeep Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State.
3. The petitioners ‘Kirti Rathour’ and ‘Vikas Saini’ are praying for adequate protection since there is a regular threat from respondent no. 3, the father of petitioner no.1. Both are present and are identified by their counsel.
4. It is contended that both are in love and now have decided to marry with each other. Father of petitioner no. 2 is also present in court. For age proof, the High School certificate has been enclosed, according to which both are major.
5. Learned A.G.A. Mr. Sandeep Sharma have not disputed on their age.
6. Since, admittedly the petitioners are major, therefore, in such an eventuality, the local administration is under legal obligation to assess the threat perception.
7. In such view of the matter, the writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the S.S.P., Haridwar, to assess the threat perception, if any, and if he comes to the conclusion that there is any threat, take appropriate steps.
8. In addition to this, the S.H.O. concerned is also directed to call upon the respondent no. 3 and advise him not to take law in hands.
