Mohendro, learned counsel along with Mr. David Boon, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners and Mr. Anjan Prasad Sahu, learned counsel appearing for the Manipur University (MU). [2] The petitioners, who are appointees as non-teaching staff in MU in terms of the advertisement no. 2/2025 dated 13.05.2025 approach this Court being aggrieved by denial to them by the MU to attend office and from appending signatures in the attendance register, even after issuance of appointment order dated 07.07.2026. It may be noted that the issuance of the appointment order was stayed by the Division Bench of this Court in WP(C) No. 147 of 2026. However, while disposing the writ petition, the interim order was vacated and University was given liberty to issue appointment order to the selectees. Accordingly, appointment order dated 07.07.2026 was issued by MU appointing 67(sixty-seven) persons in various posts of non-teaching staff. Thereafter, the petitioners submitted joining report, however, they have not been assigned any posting and denied appending signatures in attendance register. The petitioners and others submitted joint representation dated 08.07.2026 for allowing them to sign in the attendance register and allocating sitting arrangement and another joint representation dated 13.07.2026 for issuance of individual posting order. It is submitted that the representations are pending with the Authority. Oinam Thoib a Meitei Digitally signed by Oinam Thoiba Meitei Date: 2026.07.23 13:20:40 +05'30' [3] The learned counsel for the petitioner on instruction submitted that the writ petition may be disposed of at this stage by directing MU to pass appropriate order in the pending representations submitted by the petitioners within a stipulated time. [4] Mr. Anjan Prasad Sahu, learned counsel for the MU submits that considering the innocuous prayer made by the petitioners, the writ petition may be disposed of at this stage by passing appropriate order. [5] This Court perused the materials on record and the relief prayed for in the writ petition are for allowing the petitioners, who have been appointed to various non-teaching posts in MU, to append signatures in the attendance register and making individual posting order. The writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent to consider the representations submitted by the petitioners and pass a speaking order as per rule within a period of 1(one) month from the date of receipt of copy of this order. [6] With these observations, WP(C) No. 523 of 2026 is disposed of. [7] Accordingly, MC(WP(C)) No. 544 of 2026 is also disposed of.
