1. The petitioner has filed this writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking following relief(s):- 10.1 This Hon'ble Court may kindly be pleased to call for the entire record in relation to the case of the Petitioner for its kind perusal; 10.2 This Hon'ble Court may further kindly be pleased to direct Respondent authorities to award ex gratia compensation of BINI PRADEEP Digitally signed by BINI PRADEEP Date: 2026.04.15 17:42:53 +0530
2 Rs.10,00,000/- for the loss of life of his father due to biting of street dog; 10.3 That this Hon'ble Court be pleased to grant such other relief(s) favour of the petitioner, as it may deem fit and proper in the interest of justice. 10.4 Cost of the petition may also be granted to the petitioner.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that father of the petitioner, namely, Heru @ Motilal Kandra was sleeping under a tree when he was bitten by a stray dog. However, at that time, he did not inform the said incident to his family members. After some time, his health deteriorated due to rabies infection. Hence, he was admitted in Government Medical College, Rajnandgaon on 19.3.2023, where he succumbed to the infection on
21.03.2023. It is further submitted that a merg intimation was also recorded by the police and the postmortem of the deceased was also conducted. The witnesses also narrated aforesaid facts to the police during investigation. After the death of Heru @ Motilal Kandra, the petitioner filed representation (Annexure-P/5) on 16.10.2025 before Collector, Rajnandgaon, seeking grant of ex gratia compensation, but the same has not been decided yet. Therefore, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that this petition may be
disposed of at this stage directing the Collector, Rajnandgaon to consider and decide the representation of the petitioner at the earliest.

Learned counsel for the State has no objection if the above prayer of the petitioner is allowed.
4. I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the material available on record.
5. Having heard learned counsel for the parties, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, this petition is disposed of at this stage,
3 directing respondent No.2-Collector, Rajnandgaon to decide the representation/application dated 16.10.2025 (Annexure-P/5) filed by the petitioner, as early as possible, preferably within a period of 45 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With aforesaid observation and direction, this petition stands disposed of.
