ORDER Mr.S.Shanmugam, learned Government Advocate, takes notice for the respondents.
2. This Writ Petition is taken up for final hearing at the time of admission with the consent of the learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Government Advocate for the respondents.
3. This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus to direct the first respondent to sanction Poosari pension to the petitioner under Tamil Nadu Village Temple Priests Pension Scheme, 1996 and disburse the same along with arrears at the rate of 10% interest by considering petitioner’s representation dated
08.06.2026.
4. The petitioner is stated to have officiated as a Poosari at Arulmigu Karuppasamy Temple, situated at Muthupandipatti Village, Nakkalapatti Post, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, and has sought sanction of pension under the 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P.(MD) No. 22417 of 2026 provisions of the Tamil Nadu Village Temple Priests Pension Scheme, 1996. In this connection, the petitioner has also submitted a representation dated
08.06.2026.
5. The learned Government Advocate for the respondents submits that the first respondent will consider the request of the petitioner and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law.
6. Considering the fact that the petitioner is seeking pension, I direct the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 08.06.2026, seeking grant of pension under the aforesaid Scheme, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
