No.22532 of 2026 ORDER The petitioner herein, who served as a Junior Engineer, retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation on 30.06.2026. While he was in service, there was a dispute that arose in connection with promotion to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer and because of the said litigation pending before this Court, the promotions to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer have not been effected. However, finally the said litigation came to an end on 16.03.2026, whereby this Court made it clear that the respondent Board is at liberty to effect promotions to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer(Electrical). As such, promotions are to be made following the prescribed ratio between direct recruitees and in service candidates. 2. Despite the said orders passed by this Court on 16.03.2026, according to the learned counsel for the petitioner, the respondents have not taken any steps prior to the date of retirement of the petitioner. However, he states that several of his juniors were promoted to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer after the petitioner has retired from service. In spite of the petitioner submitting various representations, the 2/5 WP(MD). No.22532 of 2026 case of the petitioner has not been considered and the petitioner seeks appropriate orders to the respondents to consider the representations submitted by the petitioner. 3. Mr.B.Ramanathan, learned standing counsel submits that the respondents would take appropriate decision on the representation submitted by the petitioner. 4. In the light of the above, without going into merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents 1 and 2 to consider the representation dated 04.05.2026 submitted by the petitioner and the reminders dated 02.06.2026 and 20.06.2026 to consider the case of the petitioner for grant of notional promotion to the post of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical) and pass appropriate orders as expeditiously as possible at any rate within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
