Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.T.Mahendran, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the first respondent and Mr.R.Mohamed Riyaz, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), who takes notice for the second respondent. 3. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had made an application before the first respondent on 21.04.2026 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.22926 of 2026 seeking re-issue/renewal of his passport. Since no action has been taken on the said application, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition. 5. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the second respondent submitted that there is no criminal case pending against the petitioner. 6. In view of the above submission, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's application in Application No.MD1076739660026, dated 21.04.2026, seeking re-issue/renewal of the passport and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
