It is brought to the notice of this Court that certain typographical errors have crept into the order dated 11.08.2026 passed in W.P.No.23120 of 2026. 3. Having considered the submissions made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent, the the following corrections are directed to be carried out in the order dated 11.08.2026: (i) In the appearance portion, the name of the counsel for the respondent, ‘Mr.R.Parthiban, Special Government Pleader’, shall be substituted with ‘Mr.S.Manohar, Standing Counsel’; (ii) In the fourth line of paragraph 4, the name of the temple, ‘Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Swamy Thirukovil’, shall be substituted with ‘Arulmigu Palvannanathar Swamy Temple, Sankarankoil; and _____________ Page No. 1 of 10 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD) No.23120 of 2026 (iii) In the fifth line of Paragraph 6, the word 'participate' shall be substituted with 'conduct'. 4. For Petitioner : M/s.S.Mahalakshmi For Respondent : Mr.R.Parthiban Special Government Pleader O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to include the name of the petitioner, namely, Karivalamvanthanallur Pillaimaarkal Pothu Mahamai Sangam, in the festival programme as the Mandagapadithar for the Fourth Day Festival and consequently, permit the petitioner-Sangam to conduct the Fourth Day Mandagapadi by granting reasonable time to remit the amount demanded in Na.Ka.No.3249/2025/A6 dated 15.07.2026, without depriving the petitioner-Sangam of its customary right solely on the ground of non-payment of the said amount within the stipulated time. 2. It is informed by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the connected Writ Petition in W.P.(MD) No.17491 of 2026 was filed by one Mr.V.Kumar before another Bench presided over by the Hon'ble Mr.Justice M.Dhandapani, for the following relief: _____________ Page No. 5 of 10 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD) No.23120 of 2026 “For issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus calling for the records, pertaining to the impugned order vide Na.Ka. No.7001/A3/2024, dated 16-03-2026, passed by 2nd respondent and quash the same as not valid and thereby direct the 3rd respondent to permit this petitioner trust to celebrate the festivals to be conducted in the name of Pillaimargal Pothu Magamai Sangam like Panguni Thiruvilla, Avani Thabasu, KanthaSasti and other like festivals to be celebrated in Arulmigu Palvannanatha Swami Samaetha Oppannaiammal Thirukkovil in Karivalamnallur, a sub temple of Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Sawmy Thirukkovil, Sankarankovil.” 3. It is informed by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the said Writ Petition was disposed of on 10.08.2026, rejecting the prayer of the said petitioner. However, the said order has not yet been uploaded on the website. 4. In this Writ Petition, the petitioner-Sangam registered under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975 claims to have certain privileges in the respondent-Temple, namely, Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Swamy Thirukovil. The said privileges have been set out in paragraph 3 of the affidavit filed in support of this Writ Petition, which is extracted hereunder:- “3. I respectfully submit that, as per the said _____________ Page No. 6 of 10 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.(MD) No.23120 of 2026 Trust Deed and the long-established custom prevailing for more than nine decades, the members of the petitioner Sangam have been maintaining Arulmigu Palvannanathar Swamy Temple, an ancient sub-temple attached to Arulmigu Sankaranarayana Swamy Temple, Sankarankovil. Apart from maintaining the temple and its properties out of the income derived from the Trust, the petitioner Sangam has been traditionally conducting the Fourth Day Mandagapadi during the Panguni Brahmotsavam, Aavani Festival and the Fourth Day Mandagapadi during the Kanda Sashti Festival, uninterruptedly for several decades. The said customary honours have been continuously recognised by the respondent temple administration and the festivals have been conducted under its supervision with the participation of all local residents, irrespective of caste or community. These festivals are celebrated with deep religious devotion and have become an integral and well-established custom of the locality. I further submit that, in my capacity as Secretary of the Sangam, I have been regularly submitting representations to the respondent seeking permission to conduct the aforesaid Mandgapadi festivals, and such permission has been granted from time to time. Accordingly, the petitioner Sangham has been conducting the said festivals peacefully to the satisfaction of the temple administration and the public, without any law and order issue or objection.” 5. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the respondent has issued a notice dated 15.07.2026 in Na.Ka.No.3249/2025/A6, demanding a sum of Rs.6,59,180/- towards arrears relating to the previous temple festivals and a sum of Rs.50,000/- towards donation. However, it would not be possible for the petitioner to raise the entire amount within a short period of time and therefore, submits that to establish the bona fide of the petitioner, the petitioner will deposit a token amount of Rs.1,50,000/- and that the balance amount will be paid to the respondent-Temple within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6. Recording the same, this Writ Petition is disposed of, by directing the respondent-Temple to receive the said sum of Rs.1,50,000/- immediately and the balance amount within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the first instalment of Rs.1,50,000/-, the petitioner shall be permitted to participate in the Mandagapadi. There shall be no order as to costs.
