These contempt petitions have been filed alleging violation of the orders passed by this Court in WP(MD)Nos.18463 and 18023 of 2025, whereby this Court directed the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated payment of terminal benefits to the petitioner. 2. Today when the matters are taken up for consideration, the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents/contemnors submitted that in Contempt Petition No.1827 of 2026, the respondents have paid total amount of Rs.8,58,698/-towards Commutation-May 23, Rs.1000/- toward Pongal Prize-2026 and Rs.87,093/0 towards Commutation Interest as directed by this Court. In Cont.P(MD)No.1829 of 2026, the respondents have paid Rs.9,42,277/- towards Commutation May 23, Rs.1000/- towards Pongal Prize-2026, and Rs.95,570/- towards Commutation Interest and accordingly, complied with the order passed by this Court. 3/6

In the light of the above, this Court is convinced that the respondents have complied with the order passed by this Court in both the contempt petitions. In case if the petitioners are of the view that they are entitled to some more amounts in terms of the order passed by this Court in the main writ petitions, they are at liberty to take appropriate steps in accordance with law. 07.08.2026 CM 4/6
