The present writ petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to respondent no. 1–District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, to decide the application dated 02.05.2026 filed by the petitioner under Section 157-A of the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, 1950 (for short, “the Act, 1950”) seeking permission to sell his property comprised in Khata No. 00842, Khasra No. 439/8 min., admeasuring 0.204 hectares, situated at Village Dabhaura Mustahkam, Tehsil Kashipur, to a proposed purchaser belonging to the general category. 2. It is contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner belongs to the Scheduled Caste category and, due to certain financial liabilities, he intends to sell his bhoomidhari land mentioned hereinabove to the proposed purchaser, namely, Hari Singh Negi @ Harish Negi, S/o Khushal Singh, who belongs to the general category. For the said purpose, 2026:UHC:4187 2 petitioner moved an application dated 02.05.2026 under Section 157-A of the Act, 1950. However, the said application is still pending consideration before respondent no. 1–District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner has limited his prayer only to a direction to respondent no.1 to consider and decide the said application of the petitioner in accordance with law within a stipulated period. 4. Learned State Counsel has no objection if such a prayer is granted by this Court. 5. Accordingly, writ petition is allowed. A writ of mandamus is issued directing respondent no.1–District Magistrate, Udham Singh Nagar, to decide the application dated 02.05.2026 filed under Section 157-A of the Act, 1950, as expeditiously as possible, strictly in accordance with law, preferably within a period of one month from the date of production of a certified copy of this order. 6.
