For Petitioner : Mr. C.Senthil Murugan For R1 & R2 : Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, Standing Counsel O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed chalenging the impugned order dated 27.07.2026 and consequently to direct the first respondent to conduct the enquiry afresh by affording sufficient opportunity to the parties concerned within a stipulated time period accordance with law. 2.Heard the learned counsel for the parties. 3.By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 4.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the respondent registered a criminal case against the petitioner alleging theft of electricity and forcibly collected a sum of Rs.6,000/- towards compounding 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P(MD)No.22552 of 2026 charges on 29.04.2026. Thereafter, an additional levy of Rs.1,69,881/- was imposed on the petitioner. Challenging the same, the present writ petition has been filed. 5. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would further submit that the petitioner is willing to pay the additional levy amount of Rs.1,69,881/- in six installments, along with the regular bi-monthly electricity consumption charges, by paying one installment in addition to the regular consumption charges in each bi-monthly bill. 6. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents has no objection to the said arrangement. 7.
In view of the above submissions, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the petitioner is permitted to pay the additional levy amount of Rs.1,69,881/- in six equal installments, along with the regular bi- monthly electricity consumption charges, commencing from the next billing 3/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

Upon payment of the entire additional levy amount as aforesaid, the respondent shall treat the proceedings against the petitioner in respect of the said additional levy as closed and shall not impose any further B.P.S.C. penalty or additional levy in respect of the same subject matter. During the period of payment of the installments, the respondents shall not disconnect the electricity service connection of the petitioner, subject to the petitioner regularly paying the bi-monthly consumption charges and the installments as directed above. 8. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
