Suriya Narayanan, For Respondent : Ms.V.Moushica, Counsel For State of TN(Crl.Side) O R D E R This petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondents to remove the petitioner's name in the CCTNS portal maintained by the respondents in lieu of the order of this Court in Crl.O.P.(MD)No. 23287 of 2025 dated 18.02.2026. 2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Counsel for State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal side) for the respondents. 3. The short facts from the affidavit of the petitioner are that he was shown as the third accused in Crime No.43 of 2023 on 2/6 WP CRL.(MD). No.4536 of 2026 the file of the third respondent. The offence in that case is connected to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The petitioner approached this Court in Crl.O.P. (MD)No.23287 of 2025 for the quashing of the F.I.R. in Crime No. 43 of 2023, and this Court, by order dated 18.02.2026, quashed the F.I.R. 4. The petitioner applied for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police in the Police Department on compassionate grounds. The District Superintendent of Police, Theni District, issued a circular to the petitioner's family dated 16.08.2024, stating that compassionate appointment would be given only if certain conditions were fulfilled, one of which was that no criminal case should be pending and that the CCTNS records should reflect the same as Nil. 5. Since the petitioner's case in Crime No.43 of 2023 was quashed by this Court, the third respondent did not remove the petitioner's name from the said crime record. Therefore, the 3/6 WP CRL.(MD). No.4536 of 2026 petitioner submitted a representation dated 22.07.2026 to the District Superintendent of Police, Theni, requesting the removal of his name from the CCTNS portal. A copy of this letter was also marked to the Inspector of Police / third respondent in this case. Despite this, the third respondent did not take any action. 6. The learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal side) submitted that due to a technical issue in 2.0 software, the request of the petitioner has not been fulfilled so far, and requested that the Court may issue a direction to the police to remove the petitioner's name in the CCTNS portal. 7. The submissions of the learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu (Criminal side) are recorded. Therefore, the third respondent is directed to remove the petitioner's name from CCTNS portal within a period of one week from today and to submit a compliance report before this Court on 25.08.2026. 4/6 WP CRL.(MD). No.4536 of 2026 8. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. Post the matter on 25.08.2026 “for reporting compliance”.
