Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the 1st respondent and the learned counsel appearing for the 3rd respondent and perused the materials available on record. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioners relied upon the judgment passed by the Division Bench of this Court in the cases involving similar facts in The Registrar, Annamalai University Chidambaram vs. P.Natesan (W.A.Nos.645 and 686 of 2025, dated 25.03.2025), wherein the Division Bench confirmed the order passed by the learned Single Judge of this Court, allowing the writ petitions filed by similarly placed employees seeking pensionary benefits. The relevant portion of the judgment dated 25.03.2025 passed by the Division Bench of this Court is extracted hereunder:-
“7. Since all the private respondents have retired, the University will fix their pay according to the statutes giving stage improvement at 7 years, 14 years and 21 years and grant terminal benefits, including pension, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed.” https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

Since the issues raised in the present writ petitions are squarely covered by the judgment passed by the Division Bench of this Court, applying the ratio laid down in the above case, these writ petitions stand disposed of with a direction to the respondents to comply with the directions issued in W.A.Nos.645 and 686 of 2025, dated 25.03.2025, with regard to the fixation of pay and grant of terminal benefits in respect of the petitioners herein as well, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.
