CORAM : THE CHIEF JUSTICE LISA GILL SRI JUSTICE CHALLA GUNARANJAN DATE : 22nd July, 2026 LISA GILL, CJ: Prayer in WP(PIL).No.14 of 2026 is to declare action of respondent No.4 in not considering representation dated 08.12.2025, while exercising its 2 HCJ & CGR, J WP(PIL)_14_2026 & WP_33991_2025 statutory powers under Advocate’s Act, 1961, to mandate 1/3rd (33%) reservation for women advocates in Executive Committees and Office Bearer positions of all District Bar Associations and other local Bar Associations across the State of Andhra Pradesh as illegal, arbitrary, discriminatory and violative of Articles 14,15 & 21 of the Constitution of India and also directive principles as laid down by Hon’ble Apex Court in the cases of SCBA vs. B.D. Kaushik and another, Misc. Appl. Diary No.13992 of 2023; and Yogamaya M.G. vs. Union of India and others, W.P.(Civil) No.581 of 2024. 2. Prayer in W.P.No.33991 of 2025 is to declare action of respondent Nos.1 to 3 in not considering representation dated 10.11.2025 by passing resolution and amend By-laws of A.P.H.C.A.A to provide one-third (1/3rd) reservation for women advocates in the Executive Committee and Office Bearer positions of the Association as illegal, arbitrary, discriminatory and violative of Articles 14,15 & 21 of the Constitution of India and also directive principles as laid down by Hon’ble Apex Court in SCBA v. B.D. Kaushik case. 3. Admittedly, this aspect along with some others is pending adjudication before Hon’ble the Supreme Court in Deeksha N Amruthesh v. State of Karnataka & others [Special Leave to Appeal (C) No.1404/2025]. 4. Reference has been made by petitioner to communication dated 03.03.2026 issued by Chairman, Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh to all Bar Associations in the State. 3 HCJ & CGR, J WP(PIL)_14_2026 & WP_33991_2025 5. Considering the facts and circumstances, proceedings are closed at this stage.
