Chakraborty, learned counsel for the petitioners/applicants namely, (i) Shakti Kumar @Shakti Kumar Jha, and (ii) Kiran Jha who have filed this application under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 with prayer for bail to perform the last rites of the mother of the petitioner No. 1 who has passed away on 20.05.2026. 2. It is submitted that the petitioners are senior citizens and they are languishing in the jail for more than 1 month. The petitioners are booked under Sections 316/318/336/340/61(2) of the BNS, 2023 in connection with Jalukbari P.S. Case No. 119/2026 corresponding to G.R. Case No. 1258/2016. 3. Heard Mr. K. K. Parashar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the respondent State who has submitted that the petitioners are booked under a serious offence. 4. I have considered the submission at the Bar with circumspection. 5. It appears that the petitioners may be granted interim bail to perform the last rites of the petitioner no. 1’s mother. 6. Considering all aspects, the petitioners namely (i) Shakti Kumar @Shakti Kumar Jha, and (ii) Kiran Jha are granted interim bail from 22.05.2026 to 22.06.2026 to perform the last rites of the petitioner No. 1’s mother. 7.
