Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the very outset, has drawn the attention of this Court to a certificate dated 02.01.2025 issued by SOS Children’s Village India, which is an orphanage home. The said certificate reveals that an amount of Rs.4,25,674/- was credited to the bank account of the petitioner on 30.12.2024 after being transferred by the said SOS Children’s Village India in favour of the petitioner. Mr. Vikas Jain, learned counsel for the respondent-Bank submits that as till now the petitioner has not been able to substantiate the receipt of the said amount, they have instructions to debit freeze the entire account. 3. Learned counsel for the respondent – Bank further submits that they have not been served with a copy of the certificate dated 02.01.2025 and that in the event the said certificate is made available to the bank, the same would be immediately forwarded to the investigating agency, namely the Assistant Commissioner of Police, C-Branch, Thrissur City, on whose instructions the account of the petitioner was frozen so that an appropriate decision can be taken. 4. Taking note of the above, as the sole reason for freezing the bank account of the petitioner was the credit of Rs.4,25,674/-, which as per the respondents was an unusual transaction in comparison to the normal transactions carried out in the bank account of the petitioner, the petitioner is directed to submit a copy of the certificate dated 02.01.2025 issued by SOS Children’s Villages India to the respondent – Bank within a period of 7 days from today, who shall forward the same to the investigation agency immediately. The decision with respect to the veracity of the said certificate and de-freezing of the bank account of the petitioner be taken within 15 days thereafter. It is further clarified that in the event no decision is taken by the respondents within the aforesaid period, the respondents shall mandatorily de-freeze the bank account of the petitioner immediately upon expiry of the said period.
