ORDER This criminal original petition has been filed praying to set aside the order dated 15.04.2026 made in MP.No.4 of 2026 in Crl.MP.No.1333 of 2026 in Crl.A.No.162 of 2026 on the file of the III Additional Session at Chennai.
2. It is seen that the petitioner was convicted for the offence https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
Crl.OP.No.18749 of 2026 under Section 138 of Negotiable Instruments Act in CC.No.920 of 2021 on the file of the XXXVII Metropolitan Magistrate, Fast Track Court – IV, George Town, Chennai. Thereafter, he filed appeal in Crl.A.No.162 of 2026 on the file of the III Additional Session at Chennai and also filed petition to suspend the sentence till disposal of the appeal. The same was allowed on condition to deposit 20% of the cheque amount to the credit of CC.No.920 of 2021. However, the petitioner could not comply with the order and as such, he filed extension petition, which was dismissed. Against the said order, this criminal original petition has been filed.
3. Heard, the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused all the materials placed before this Court.
4. On perusal of the affidavit filed in support of this criminal original petition, this Court finds no reasons to interfere with the impugned order. However, the time to deposit 20% of the cheque amount to the credit of CC.No.920 of 2021 is extended till 28.08.2026, failing which the present order of this Court extending the time shall automatically stand cancelled and the Appellate court shall take appropriate action against the accused in accordance with law. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
