Mr. R.P.Singh, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mrs. Meenakshi Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State. 3. The petitioners Smt. Khushi Rani D/o Ilam Singh and Vishal S/o Amresh Kumar are praying for adequate protection to their life and liberty since there is a regular threat perception from respondent no. 4, the father of petitioner no.1. 4. Both the petitioners are present in Court and are identified by their counsel. 5. It is contended that both the petitioners are in love with each other and both are major and married with each other in Prachin Shiv Mandir Tehsil Roorkee on 22.05.2026 and certain photographs of the marriage has also been enclosed. It is submitted that according to their date of birth both are major. In support of the age and High School certificate of both have been enclosed, therefore, adequate protection may be granted to the petitioners. The petitioner no.1 completed 18 years on 10.04.2026 and petitioner no.2 completed 21 years on 15.05.2026 and on the same date they married at Shiv Mandir Laksar, and thereafter they also applied for registration of their marriage, the receipt of which is also enclosed as Annexure no.1. 6. On the other side, Mrs. Meenakshi Sharma, the learned A.G.A. has not disputed the age of the petitioners and submits that both of them are major. 7. Taking into consideration that both the petitioners are major and now married with each other and if there is a threat perception from the respondent no.4 then the State is under legal obligation to ensure their safety. 8. Accordingly, I dispose of the instant writ petition with the direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Haridwar to assess the threat perception if any to the petitioners from the respondent no.4 and if he comes to the conclusion that there is any threat from the private respondents, he shall take appropriate steps. In addition to this the S.H.O. concerned shall call upon the respondent no.4 and advise him not to take the law in hand. (Rakesh Thapliyal, J.) 26.05.2026 Nahid
