K.Veeraraghavan ..Respondent(s) PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue Writ of Mandamus, directing respondents 1 and 2 to implement the decisions taken in the peace committee meeting held on 22.8.2025 for celebrating the annual Temple festival for the Arulmighu Sri Thandu Mariamman Temple at Nathapettai village, Kancheepuram Taluk and District with the participation of petitioners and respondents 3 to 7 for every year within a time frame. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 31049 of 2026 __________ Page2 of 5 For Petitioner(s): Mr.L.Chandrakumar For Respondent(s): Mrs.Inthu Karunakaran Special Government Pleader for R1 and R2 ORDER Though the writ petition has been filed for a direction to respondents 1 and 2 to implement the decisions taken in the peace committee meeting held on 22.08.2025 for celebrating the annual Temple festival for the Arulmighu Sri Thandu Mariamman Temple at Nathapettai Village, Kancheepuram Taluk and District with the participation of petitioners and respondents 3 to 7 for every year, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court, learned Standing Counsel for respondents 1 and 2 would submit that the peace committee meeting which was referred to was with reference to previous year festival and would submit that they would call for a peace committee meeting including petitioners, respondents 3 to 7 and any other interested parties and take appropriate action for conducting the festival, this year. 2. Learned counsel for petitioners would urge that until the peace committee is constituted and a decision arrived at, no festival ought to be conducted, to which learned Special Government Pleader for respondents 1 and 2 would submit that they would call for a peace committee meeting and try and resolve the issue of conducting the festival, within a time frame to be fixed by https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 31049 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 5 this Court, which was agreed to by learned counsel for petitioner. 3. 3. In view thereof, there shall be a direction to respondents 1 and 2 to call for a peace committee meeting including petitioners, respondents 3 to 7 and any other interested parties and try and resolve the issue of conducting the festival, within a period of one week, from the date of uploading of web copy without waiting for the receipt of certified copy, 4. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
