1. Mr. Bilal Ahmed, learned counsel for the petitioners and Mrs. Rangoli Purohit, learned Brief Holder for the State.
2. Mr. Petitioners Smt. Sabri Naj D/o Mohd. Gulamja and Muntazir Ali S/o Naseem Ali both resident of District Haridwar approached to this Court by way of this petition seeking adequate protection from the respondent nos. 3 to 6, who are family members of the petitioner no.1.
3. It is submitted that both of them were in love and married on 14.05.2026 at Piran Kaliyar and their marriage is also registered before the Sub Registrar, Registration of Marriage on 15.05.2026, copy of which is enclosed in page 17 and with regard to the age, high school marksheet and the aadhar card have been enclosed.
4. Both are present before this court in- person and are identified by their counsel.
5. Learned Brief Holder for the State has not disputed their age and marriage.
6. In such view of the matter, since both are major and now married with each other and their marriage is also registered, therefore, the local administration is under the legal obligation to assess the threat
2026:UHC:4020 perception, if any, and take appropriate steps.
7. Accordingly, the writ petition is
disposed of finally with the direction to the SSP Haridwar to assess the threat perception, if any, to the petitioners from the respondent nos. 3 to 6 and if he comes to the conclusion that there is any threat, take appropriate steps. In addition to this, the SHO concerned is also directed to call upon the respondent nos. 3 to 6 and advice them not to take law in their hands.
