M/L 58 02.02.2026 Court No.18 SD IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA CONSTITUTIONAL WRIT JURISDICTION WPA 26851 of 2025 CAN 1 of 2025 Arnab Sarkar & Ors. Vs. The State of West Bengal & Ors. Mr. Debashis Banerjee Mr. Devranjan Das Mr. Rakesh Jana … for the Petitioners. Mr. Sirsanya Bandopadhyay Ms. Deboleena Ghosh Mr. Sandip Das Gupta Mr. Saaqib Siddiqui Mr. Niket Ojha … for the State. Mr. Biswaroop Bhattacharyya Ms. Pramiti Bandopadhyay Mr. Rahul Kumar Singh … for the WBCSSC. Ms. Koyeli Bhattacharyya Mr. Bibek Dutta Mr. Manas Bhattacharyya … for the WBBSE. 1. The petitioners claim to be State aided college teachers who participated in 2nd SLST, 2025. 2. The petitioners have averred in the writ petition that they were unable to submit the details of their past teaching experience because the window of the portal did not allow them to do so. There was no category for filling up the experience column in respect of the State aided college teachers. 3. Prayer has been made to direct the Commission to award marks to the petitioners on account of their prior teaching experience. 2 4. The prayer of the petitioners is opposed by the learned advocate representing the Commission. 5. It has been submitted that presently the interview list has also been published and as the petitioners did not disclose their marks at the time of filling up the application form, at this stage, direction ought not to be issued upon the Commission for awarding any marks to the candidates on account of their past teaching experience. 6. I have heard and considered the submissions made on behalf of both the parties. 7. It appears that the last date for submission of the application form expired on July 21, 2025. The cause of action for filing the writ petition is the inability of the petitioners to fill in the column meant for prior teaching experience. As the petitioners were aggrieved at the very initial point of time, that is, at the time of filing the application form, they ought to have approached the Court at that point of time. 8. The petitioners have approached the Court long after publication of the interview list by the Commission. 9. The Court is not agreeable to accept the prayer of the petitioners to pass any direction upon the Commission at this belated stage. 10. In view of the above, no relief can be granted to the petitioners. 3 11. The writ petition fails and stands dismissed. The connected application also stands dismissed. 12. Copy of the acknowledgement receipt for payment of deficit court fees filed on behalf of the petitioners in Court today be kept with the records. 13. Parties to act on the basis of the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. (Amrita Sinha, J.)
