1. Ms. Abhilasha Tomar, learned counsel for the petitioners.
2. Mr. Bhaskar Chandra Joshi and Mr. Sandeep Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State.
3. The petitioners Devender S/o Shri Pawan Kashyap and Shruti D/o Shri Abhimanyu Verma, both are resident of Rudrapur, praying for adequate protection since there is regular threat from respondent nos. 3 to 8. The petitioners are present and are identified by their counsel. The respondent no. 3 is the father of the petitioner no. 2 and rest are other family members.
4. It is contended in the petition that the family of both are living in the same vicinity and they known to each other since long back and were in love and on 06.05.2026 both of them married in a temple namely Khokra Devi at Kashipur and the certificate of their marriage is also enclosed at page
21. For their age proof the 10th standard marksheet is enclosed, according to which both are major.
5. On the other side, Mr. Joshi, learned A.G.A. have not disputed on their age and the marriage.
6. Admittedly there is no dispute about their age and the marriage and, therefore, if there is any threat perception the local administration is under legal obligation to assess the same and take appropriate steps.
7. In such view of the matter, the instant writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the S.S.P. concerned to assess the threat perception, if any, from respondent nos. 3 to 8 and if he comes to the conclusion there is threat, take appropriate steps.
8. In addition to this, the S.H.O. concerned is directed to call upon the respondent nos. 3 to 8 and advise them not to take law in their hands.
