For Petitioner : Mr.S.M.A.Jinnah For Respondents : Mr.D.Venkatesh Counsel for State of Tamil Nadu (Crl.Side) O R D E R [Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA, J.] Challenging the order dated 24.06.2026 passed by the 1st respondent rejecting the request of the convict prisoner to grant 30 days ordinary leave, this writ petition is filed to quash the same with a consequential direction to grant 30 days ordinary leave to the convict prisoner without escort. 2. Perusal of the impugned order shows that the request of the convict prisoner has been rejected on the ground that the convict prisoner has got one pending case in Crime No.1299 of 2014 on the file of Karimedu Police Station for the offences under Sections 147, 148, 120(b) of IPC and Sections 20 & 25(1)(A) of the Arms Act, pending before the VI Additional District and Sessions Court, Madurai and therefore, as per Rule 35 of the Tamil Nadu Page No.2 of 5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.Crl(MD)No.4099 of 2026 Suspension of Sentence Rules 1982, the convict prisoner is not entitled to leave. Apart from that, the learned counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu(Crl.Side) has submitted that the convict prisoner has also been convicted for kidnap for ransom. Hence, we do not find any infirmity in the impugned order. 3. Accordingly, this Writ Petition (Criminal) stands dismissed.
