1. Heard learned counsel Mr. Kothari for the petitioner, Mr. Madiwale, learned AGP for respondent No.1, Mr. Nikhil Gaikwad, learned counsel for the respondent No.2 and Mr. Kuldeep Mahalle, learned counsel for the respondent No.3.

Mr. Kothari, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a student and is required to approach this Court seeking directions to the respondent No.1 Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Amravati for expeditious decision of his caste claim. The petitioner claims to belong to the ‘Thakur’ Scheduled Tribe. The caste claim of the petitioner was submitted to the respondent No.1 Committee on 24.02.2025 for verification. The acknowledgement to that effect is on record at page No.18 (Annexure P1). Mr. Kothari, learned counsel for the petitioner 2026:BHC-NAG:11562-DB
(2) 110.wp.6735.2026 submits that even after the passage of more than one and half years now, the aforesaid caste claim is still pending with the respondent No.1.
3. In the meantime, the petitioner was allotted a seat in the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture course in the respondent No.3 college, which is affiliated to Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola. The allotment letter is on record at page No.38 (Annexure P-12).
4. Mr. Kuldeep Mahalle, learned counsel for the respondent No.3 does not dispute the aforesaid position. Mr. Madiwale, learned AGP, upon instructions, submits that the respondent No.1 shall decide the caste claim of the petitioner within a period of two months from today.
5. In view of the above, we dispose of the present writ petition as per the following order:
ORDER (i) The respondent No.1 Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Amravati shall decide the caste claim of the petitioner towards ‘Thakur’ Scheduled Tribe submitted on 24.02.2025 within a stipulated period of two months from today. (ii) The petitioner is directed to co-operate with the respondent No.1 Scheduled Tribe Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee in the aforesaid validation process expeditiously without seeking unnecessary adjournments. (iii) In the meanwhile, the respondent Nos.2 and 3 are directed not to insist upon the petitioner for submission of the Caste Validity Certificate in
(3) 110.wp.6735.2026 pursuance of his admission in respondent No.3 college. (iv) The aforesaid admission is subject to the result of the validation process. (v) The petitioner shall not claim any equity on the basis of such order.
6. The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
