The learned Government Advocate submitted that in a complaint of women harassment and online abuse which was lodged as early as on 25.01.2026, the respondent police had registered a first information report in Crime No.354 of 2026 only on 20/07/2026 as against one Jayakanthan and Jagan. 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP CRL.(MD). The learned counsel for the petitioner strongly contended that proper departmental action should be directed to be taken against the official respondents for dereliction of duty for prolonging to consider the petitioner’s complaint and take appropriate legal action. 4. The learned Government Advocate submitted that the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner is unwarranted and proper action has been taken by registering a first information report in Crime No.354 of 2026. Before lodging the present complaint, the petitioner’s husband had kidnapped the said Jayakanthan and Jegan for which a first information report in Crime No.1264 of 2022 was registered by the Tambanur police station, Trivandrum city on 05.09.2022. Only as a counter blast, the present complaint is filed by the petitioner. 5. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that by mere registration of first information report as against the accused persons, the petitioner would not be satisfied because the petitioner has required to take proper departmental action as against the respondent police for dereliction of duty by way of his representation dated 13.06.2026. 3/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP CRL.(MD). A careful perusal of the representation would make it clear that the petitioner has required proper action as against the official respondents for having harassed her in the name of enquiry and for having compelled her to withdraw her complaint. In this regard, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner’s representation with respect to the aspects of dereliction of duty as committed by the respondents 3, 4, and 5 and take necessary action if found, if the petitioner's representation is found genuine, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7.
