In this writ application, the petitioner has prayed for a direction upon the respondents to consider the premature release of the father of the petitioner strictly on the basis of 1984 policy dated 28.02.1984. It appears that as per the 1984 policy as well as the subsequent policy of the State of Jharkhand, the minimum period a convict has to spent in custody is 14 years and since as per the report of the Superintendent, Birsa Munda Central Jail, Hotwar, Ranchi, the petitioner has completed 13 years 02 months and 17 days as on 30.01.2026, the basic criteria required for consideration of the premature release of the petitioner having not been fulfilled, I am not inclined to entertain this writ application which accordingly stands disposed of with the liberty to the petitioner to approach the authorities on completion of 14 years of actual custody.
