Heard learned counsel Shri Sandeep Marathe for the petitioner - student; learned Assistant Government Pleader Shri S.V.Narale for respondent No.1 – District Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Washim; and learned counsel Shri Nikhil Gaikwad for respondent No.2 – Commissioner, Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET), Mumbai. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner – student submits that caste claim of the petitioner – student towards “Mathura Labhan Vimukta Jati(A)” was submitted to respondent No.1 – District Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Washim (the Committee) on 3.8.2026, which is pending. An acknowledgment to that effect is on record at page No.22 (Annexure-2). 2026:BHC-NAG:11602-DB 2 15 wp6811.26.odt He also invites our attention to another acknowledgment issued by respondent No.2 - Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET). The said acknowledgment reveals that the petitioner – student has been admitted in the GMC at Kolhapur, as per Provisional Selection List, for MBBS Course-Cap Round-1, which is at page No.40. The petitioner - student has been allotted the Government Medical College at Kolhapur for admission in MBBS Course for the year 2026-2027 as per the provisional selection list. He submits that the last date for securing the admission in the aforesaid mentioned college is 4.9.2026. However, for securing such admission, the petitioner – student is required to produce all original documents including Caste Validity Certificate. Since the caste claim of the petitioner – student is pending before the Committee, the petitioner – student has approached this court. 3. Learned Assistant Government for the Committee, upon instructions, submits that the Committee shall decide the caste claim of the petitioner – student towards “Mathura Labhan Vimukta Jati(A)” within a period of six months from today. 4. In this view of the matter, we dispose of the present petition with directions to respondents, as per the order below: ORDER (1) The Writ Petition is disposed of. (2) The respondent No.1 – District Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, Washim is directed to decide the caste claim of the 3 15 wp6811.26.odt petitioner – student towards “Mathura Labhan Vimukta Jati(A)” within a period of six months from today. (3) Meanwhile, respondent No.2 – Commissioner, Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET), Mumbai is directed not to cancel the admission in the aforementioned college of the petitioner for want of Caste Validity Certificate, till decision of the Committee. (4) The petitioner – student is directed to cooperate with the Committee for expeditious disposal of his caste claim. (5) The aforesaid admission of the petitioner – student would be subject to final outcome of the caste claim decided by the Committee. (6) With this, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
