ORDER This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to take action on the petitioner’s representation dated 21.04.2026 requesting to make the necessary index correction in the Encumbrance Certificate relating to Document No.2430/1996 dated 30.10.1996 as requested in the said representation within a time frame.

Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that his father V.S.Anandan, who is no more now, purchased the land in Plot No.555 in Survey Nos.182/8 and 9 at Keezh Nallathur Village, Thiruvallur Taluk, by a sale deed dated 30.10.1996 registered as Document No.2436/1996 at the office of the Sub Registrar, Manavala Nagar; while so, in the encumbrance certificate pertaining to the property registered vide Document No.2430/1996, the schedule of property sold under Document No.2436/1996 has been shown, when the fact remains that these two documents pertain to two different properties; hence, to make necessary index correction in the encumbrance certificate, the petitioner addressed a representation dated 21.04.2026 to the respondent, which has not been acted upon till date; hence, this writ petition seeking the aforesaid relief.
3. Mr. Dominic S. David, learned Government Counsel, accepting notice on behalf of the respondents, submitted that the petitioner’s representation dated 21.04.2026 will be considered within a period of six weeks. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

4. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

Considering the limited scope of the relief sought in the writ petition, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 21.04.2026, after issuing due notice to the petitioner and other aggrieved persons, if any, on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
