For Petitioner: Mr.E.Lakshmipathy For Respondents: Mr.AR.Balaji Government Advocate for R1 and R2 ORDER This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner’s representations dated 05.06.2026 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 27772 of 2026 __________ Page2 of 4 and 30.06.2026, wherein the petitioner has sought a transfer from the Kanyakumari Zone to the Kancheepuram Zone on medical, family, and humanitarian grounds, within a stipulated time frame to be fixed by this Court. 2. The case of the petitioner is that she was appointed as a Drugs Inspector in the year 2010 and subsequently promoted to the post of Assistant Director of Drugs Control, Kanyakumari Zone, with effect from 02.12.2024. It is submitted that when the petitioner was working as a Senior Drugs Inspector in the Tiruvallur Zone, she stood at seniority rank 4 out of 10, yet no counseling was conducted for transfer on promotion at that time. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite vacancies being available at the time of her promotion in Chennai, Villupuram, Trichy, Thanjavur, Madurai, and Pudukkottai zones, she was posted to the Kanyakumari Zone, which is at the extreme geographic end from her previous station in Tiruvallur. Nevertheless, she joined duty as Assistant Director in the Kanyakumari Zone on 02.12.2024 and has been discharging her duties diligently. It is submitted that the petitioner’s children are studying in Tiruvallur, while her husband is employed at a private firm in Chennai. It is further submitted that the petitioner’s son suffers from 'Recurrent Febrile Seizures' and her mother-in-law is undergoing treatment for 'Colorectal Cancer', both requiring the constant care and support of the petitioner. It is submitted that the post of Assistant Director of Drugs Control at Kancheepuram is currently vacant; hence, the petitioner submitted representations to the 2nd https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 27772 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 respondent on 05.06.2026 and 30.06.2026 seeking a transfer. As the said representations have not been considered to date, the present writ petition has been filed. 3. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side. 4. Considering the limited relief sought in the writ petition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner’s claim, the second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner’s representations dated 05.06.2026 and 30.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of.
