For Petitioner(s): Mr.K.Alakendran For Respondent(s): Ms.V.Yamuna Devi, Special Government Pleader for R1 to R3 in all W.Ps Mr.G.venkatesan, Standing Counsel for R4 in all W.Ps Order The writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for a direction to consider his representation dated 03.05.2025 to allot any one tenement in the new tenement buildings constructed by Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. 2. Case of the petitioner is that he lived with his family at Slum Hut No.126, Nochikuppam, Mylapore, Chennai. In the year 2004, due to tsunami, he lost his hut and belongings. The Slum Board as rehabilitation arrangement allotted temporary Tent hut at Nochikuppam and the petitioner’s family was residing there. Subsequently, the Slum Board proposed to construct tenements under Tsunami Rehabilitation project and assured that families will be allotted on preference a residential tenement and hence, the petitioner’s family also https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 10277 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 6 vacated the temporary tsunami tent hut. The petitioner’s name was also placed in the finalized recommendation list of the 4th respondent. Though the petitioner’s name was in the selected list, the 4th respondent did not allot any tenement. Hence, he sent a representation, since the said representation was not considered, he preferred a writ petition, wherein this Court had directed the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation. In compliance of the said order, the Board had passed a rejection order on 30.05.2016. 3. Thereafter, the petitioner came to know that a new tenements building has been constructed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board and it is yet to be allotted. Hence, the petitioner made representation on 03.05.2025 to allot one tenement in the new building. Since, the said representation is not yet disposed, the petitioner is before this Court. 4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if the respondents are directed to dispose of the representation of the petitioner dated 03.05.2025 on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period. 5. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and learned counsel appearing for the respondents. 7. In view of the limited request made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.10.2025, after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and necessary parties and dispose of the said representation on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 8. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
