The petitioner seeks a mandamus to the respondents to disburse the pension arrears for the period 17.03.2018 to November 2019, in the light of the communication
of
the
first
respondent
in
Letter No.08/31858/Ni4/TNSTC(V)/2018-1, dated 17.03.2018, with interest at the rate of 12% per annum from the date of entitlement to till the date of actual disbursement, within a time limit fixed by this Court. 2. It is the case of the petitioner that he worked as a Senior Checking Inspector in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Villupuram) Ltd., Vellore Region, and had retired from service after attaining the age of superannuation on 31.05.2015. While calculating his retirement benefits, the last drawn Grade Pay was taken as Rs.2,600/-. Pursuant to the 13th Wage Revision, the first respondent herein had issued the impugned communication dated 17.03.2018, stating that the Grade Pay for the post of Checking Inspectors https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

17.03.2018.
Based on this wage revision, the petitioner's pension was revised in the month of December 2019. However, the monetary benefits as directed for the period from 17.03.2018 to till December 2019, was not disbursed. The petitioner had sent a representation to the respondents on 15.04.2025, followed by a reminder on 10.12.2025, which evoked no response. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court. 3. Heard the learned counsel on either side and this Court also perused the records. 4. The first respondent in the communication dated 17.03.2018, had passed the following order :

5. Pursuant to the above communication, the petitioner's pay was refixed in 2019. However, the monetary compensation from the period 17.03.2018, the date of the impugned letter, till November 2019 was not disbursed to the petitioner.
It is seen that the petitioner has also submitted his representations as early as on 15.05.2025 and 10.12.2025, despite which, there is inaction on the part of the respondents to disburse the monetary benefits which the petitioner is entitled to from from 17.03.2018 to till November 2019. This is contrary to the very communication of the first respondent dated 17.03.2018, which has already been given effective by revising the pension of the petitioner accordingly, but the disbursement of the monetary benefits as admitted by the respondents https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

In this circumstance, a mandamus is issued to the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioner and disburse the pension arrears with interest @ 9% for the period 17.03.2018 to till November 2019, within a period eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
