For Petitioner: J.Senthil Kumar For Respondents: Mr.R.Chakkaravarthy Government Counsel for R1, Mr.S.Gunasekaran For R2 ORDER This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent bank to disburse the interest amount of 6.5% for the period of 2019-2024 to the petitioner based on the petitioner’s representation dated 12.11.2024. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 27020 of 2026 __________Page 2 of 4 2. The brief case of the petitioner is that the first wife of the petitioner’s husband viz., Chitradevi (deceased) had appointed the minor children of the petitioner as nominees for the Fixed Deposit made by her. It is also represented that the amount has also been disbursed with interest. 3. However, it is the grievance of the petitioner that though the Fixed Deposit amount was disbursed, it was made with delay which caused more inconvenience to the petitioner. Hence she claimed interest for the delayed deposit. 4. The learned counsel for the 2nd respondent would submit that entire Fixed Deposit amount made by the deceased Chitradevi has been disbursed along with calculated interest at 6.5% for the period 2018-2019 and thereafter 3% for the period 2019-2024 to the nominees who are the children of the petitioner. Hence, there is no interference required in this regard. 5. In view of the above, since Fixed deposit amount along with appropriate interest has been disbursed and the same was also accepted by the petitioner on the date of deposit, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs.
