For Petitioner : Mr.A.Sivanu Pandian For R-1 : Mr.P.Karthick, CGSC ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to carry out the correction of the petitioner's daughter's mother's name in the Secondary School Examination, 2025 Mark Sheet bearing Roll No.20199560 and Registration No.M125/55235/0076 by substituting "Mumtaz Begam.M" in place of "M.Mumtaj Begum", in terms of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Notification No.7 dated 20.02.2013, published at Page No.371, and consequently issue a fresh Secondary School Examination Mark Sheet with the corrected mother's name, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 2/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.20721 of 2026 2. Heard Mr.A.Sivanu Pandian, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, and Mr.P.Karthick, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the first respondent. 3. Since no adverse order is proposed to be passed against the second respondent, notice to the second respondent is dispensed with. 4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner's daughter is studying in the second respondent school. The second respondent issued the Secondary School Examination Mark Sheet, wherein the petitioner's wife's name (mother's name of the student) has been wrongly mentioned as "Mumtaz Begam.M instead of "M.Mumtaj Begum. In order to rectify the said mistake, the petitioner submitted a representation to the first respondent. Since no action has been taken on the said representation, the present Writ Petition has been filed. 3/6 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P(MD)No.20721 of 2026 5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would further submit that this Court may direct the second respondent to forward the necessary proposal to the first respondent for correction of the petitioner's wife's name in the mark sheet, based on the petitioner's representation, and consequently direct the first respondent to pass appropriate orders. 6. The learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent would submit that if the second respondent forwards the proposal seeking correction of the name in the mark sheet, the first respondent will consider the same and pass appropriate orders. 7. In view of the above submission, the second respondent is directed to forward the necessary proposal to the first respondent for correction of the petitioner's wife's name in the Secondary School Examination Mark Sheet, within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
