Upon consideration of the materials available on record, it is seen that the petitioner, Murasoli and his sibling, Arulmozhi, are involved in a property dispute. According to the petitioner, on account of the said dispute, his brother has been threatening his life and limb, and therefore, he seeks police protection. 3. Considering the above submissions, this Court is of the view that, when the dispute is essentially civil in nature between the brothers, the police cannot be expected to provide round-the-clock protection to the petitioner. However, if the petitioner lodges any complaint disclosing the commission of a cognizable offence or any threat to his life or person, the respondent police shall receive the same, enquire into it in accordance with law, and take appropriate action, if warranted. 4.
