This criminal appeal has been filed under Section 14A of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 with the prayer to quash the cognizance order dated 11.12.2020 passed by the learned A.J.C.-VII-cum-Spl. Judge, (2026:JHHC:7275) 2 Cr Appeal (SJ) No.847 of 2023 SC/ST, Ranchi in connection with SC/ST (Complaint) Case No. 08 of 2019. 3. Perusal of the record reveals that this criminal appeal has been filed against a dead person being the respondent no.2-Teema Oraon who died on 02.01.2023 as per the death certificate that has been furnished in the counter affidavit. 4. Teema Oraon was dead before filing of this criminal appeal. Since, this criminal appeal is filed against a dead person, the same is not maintainable. 5. Accordingly, the criminal appeal which has been filed against the order dated 11.12.2020 passed by the learned A.J.C.-VII-cum- Spl. Judge, SC/ST, Ranchi in connection with SC/ST (Complaint) Case No. 08 of 2019 by which cognizance has been taken by the learned Special Judge is dismissed being not maintainable. 6. The interim relief granted earlier vide order dated 17.07.2025 is vacated. 7. Registry is directed to intimate the court concerned forthwith. (Anil Kumar Choudhary, J.)
