The writ petition has been filed in the nature of a mandamus seeking a direction against the respondents 1 to 4 to consider the representation dated 04.02.2026 and to conduct inquiry under Section 81 of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies Act, 1983 with respect to Sri Sudarsanam Handloom Weaving and Sales Cooperative Society, Madurai. 2.The primary aim of the petitioner is focused against the 5th respondent, who has since retired from service, that he had been drawing a sum of https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP(MD) No. 18367 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 5 Rs.30,000/- as salary and therefore, an inquiry must be conducted under Section 81 of the Act. This, in effect, is questioning the service conditions of the 5th respondent. Public Interest Litigation can never be invoked with respect to this particular jurisdiction. The petitioner is a stranger to the society. 3.Admittedly, inquiry under Section 81 of the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies Act, 1983 can be initiated only by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies or on the application of majority of the Board Members of not less than 1/3 of members or on the request of the financing Bank or of the District Collector. The petitioner is a stranger. He cannot seek an inquiry to be conducted under Section 81 of the Act. 4.The Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. (C.V.K.,J.)
