ORDER The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a direction to the respondents to reopen TASMAC Shop No.8920 and its attached bar situated at No.1/1, Ambattur–Redhills Road, Ambattur, Chennai – 600 053, and to permit its uninterrupted operation. 2. The petitioner was granted a licence by TASMAC to sell bar snacks in a shop attached to the above TASMAC liquor outlet. 3. The State Government took a policy decision to close all objectionable TASMAC shops. Pursuant to that policy, TASMAC Shop No.8920 was closed. TASMAC is not a party to the present writ petition. The petitioner, whose licence was only to sell bar snacks attached to the TASMAC shop, seeks a 2/5 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
W.P.No.24988 of 2026 direction to reopen the liquor shop. The learned State Counsel also submitted that the licence granted in respect of TASMAC Shop No.8920 expired on
30.06.2026. 4. The petitioner has not shown any violation of a statutory right. Further, there is no statutory duty cast upon the respondents to consider or grant the petitioner’s request to reopen the TASMAC shop. Therefore, no writ of mandamus can be issued. 5. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of, reserving liberty to the petitioner to work out any other remedy available in law. There shall be no order as to costs.
