The limited scope of this writ petition is for removal of condition relating to escort while granting ordinary leave of 21 days to the petitioner’s father/convict, viz., Kannan, S/o.Veerichettiyar, presently confined in Central Prison, Salem. 2. The convict has undergone sentence of 5 years 2 months and 1 day as on 25.05.2026. Since leave has been granted earlier by the intervention of this Court vide order dated 31.01.2025 in WP No.2292 of 2025 and for the reason that Mr.C.R.Malarvannan does not very seriously object to the modification of the order in relation to the condition of escort, order dated 21.03.2026 is modified to the extent sought for. 3. Accordingly, impugned order dated 21.03.2026, to the extent to which an escort has been provided, is set aside and ordinary leave of 21 days without escort is granted, though on the following conditions: (i) Respondents are directed to release the Convict Prisoner viz., Kannan, S/o.Veerichettiyar, aged 55 years, confined at Central Prison, Salem on Ordinary Leave for a period of 21 days i.e., from 25.07.2026 to 14.08.2026. (ii) The Convict Prisoner shall be released on 25.07.2026 at 10.00 am and he shall surrender before the Central Prison, Salem on 15.08.2026 before 10.00 a.m. (iii) The Convict Prisoner is directed to report before the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 2026:MHC:3040 WP Crl.
