Mr. Zakir Ali, learned counsel for the petitioners. 2. Mr. Bhaskar Chandra Joshi and Mr. Sandeep Sharma, learned A.G.A. for the State. 3. The petitioners Shikha D/o Laxman Singh and Abhishek S/o Chandrasen praying for adequate protection since there is a regular threat from respondent nos. 4 to 7, who are the mother, brother and other family members of the petitioner no. 1. 4. It is contended in the petition that infact both of them were engaged with the consent of the family members but subsequent thereto there was some differences in between the family members, however, both of them have decided to marry, consequently they married on 02.05.2026 in Gauri Shankar Mandir, Dhansara Road, Bajpur, without any compulsion. 5. It is further contended that the parents of petitioner no. 2 are ready for this marriage but the mother and sisters of petitioner no. 1 are against this and, as such, there is regular threat. With regard to the age, school leaving certificate including the marksheet have enclosed, according to which both are major. About marriage certain photographs have been enclosed. Both are present and identified by their counsel. 6. Mr. Joshi, learned A.G.A. have not disputed on their age and marriage. 7. Admittedly there is no dispute about their age and the marriage and, therefore, if there is any threat perception the local administration is under legal obligation to assess the same and take appropriate steps. 8. In such view of the matter, the instant writ petition is disposed of finally with the direction to the S.S.P. concerned to assess the threat perception, if any, from respondent nos. 4 to 7 and if he comes to the conclusion there is threat, take 2026:UHC:3501 appropriate steps. 9. In addition to this, the S.H.O. concerned is directed to call upon the respondent nos. 4 to 7 and advise them not to take law in their hands. (Rakesh Thapliyal, J.) 07.05.2026 PR
