"directing the respondents to pay interest amount for the total sum of Rs .16,88,856/- belatedly settled towards the Provident fund, Service Gratuity and Leave salary of the deceased employee to the petitioner at the rate of 6 percent per annum for 22 months of delayed period in the light of the judgment passed by this Honble court on 23.10.2024 in WP.No. 30766 of 2024 within the time limit that may be framed by this Honble court."
2. The case of the petitioner is that, after rendering several years of service in the respondent Transport Corporation, her husband died in harness on
14.05.2021. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioner belatedly and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondents dated 25.04.2026, to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. 3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record. 5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible and eligible terminal benefits from the date of death of the petitioner's husband till the date of actual disbursement to the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
