Smt.Narasamma, W/o Hallappa in terms of the grant order bearing No.LND.175/1971-72 dated 08.07.1971 passed by the Assistant Commissioner, Doddaballapura. The name of the original grantee was entered in the revenue records. Subsequently, the grantee sold the property in favour of Sri Neelakantaiah, S/o B.Bachanna, who is the father of the petitioners herein, under registered sale deed dated
17.08.1972. Mutation entries were made in terms of the registered instrument. Thereafter, on the demise of Sri Neelakantaiah and as per the representations given by Smt. Sridevi, W/o Neelakantaiah, mutation entries were made in the name of Smt. Sridevi in terms of IHC 2/1987-

4. After hearing the learned counsel for the petitioners, the learned High Court Government Pleader and on perusing the petition papers, this Court finds from the material on record that the name of the petitioner’s mother was earlier entered in the land revenue records. However, if the Tahsildar is of the opinion that the petitioner’s mother has not been granted lands, nevertheless, it is the duty of the Tahsildar to secure the original grant records, Saguvali Chit issue register and other contemporaneous records to satisfy himself regarding the grant made in favour of the petitioners’ mother. Moreover, there is no reason why the name of the petitioners’ mother which was earlier entered in the land revenue records has been continued after computerization, the Tahsildar is duty bound to look into all these aspects and pass necessary orders.
5. Consequently, this writ petition stands
disposed of with a specific direction to the 2nd respondent -Tahsildar to consider the representations given by the

petitioners and in the light of the observations made hereinabove, verify the original records and pass necessary orders to enter the name of the petitioners mother Smt. Sridevi in the land revenue records as expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. Thereafter the Tahsildar shall look into the aspect of legal heirs of Smt. Sridevi and after issuing notice and hearing all concerned shall proceed to enter the name of the petitioners and any other legal heirs as the case may be in the revenue records, in accordance with law.
6. Learned Additional Government Advocate is permitted to file memo of appearance within a period of four weeks from today.
