It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the services of the respondent Corporation as a Shift Engineer and retired from service holding the post of Assistant Engineer 31.03.2019. After a delay of 85 months, the petitioner received a cheque dated 07.05.2026, for a sum of Rs.13,21,408/- towards encashment of leave salary. Therefore, the petitioner claimed interest at the rate of 18% on the delayed disbursal of leave salary and he has also made a representation dated 11.05.2026 to the respondents to pay interest for the delayed disbursal of leave salary, which has not been evoked any response so far. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court. 3. The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delayed disbursal of leave salary. 4. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. 5. In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delayed disbursal of leave salary from the date of https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 26273 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 entitlement till the date of actual disbursement, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
