ORAL ORDER Petitioner, accused of offences punishable under Section 111 of BNS, 2023 and Sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow slaughter and Cattle Prevention Act, 2020 in Crime No.3/2026 registered by Moodabidre Police Station is before this Court seeking regular bail. 2. A complaint came to be registered by the police on 08.01.2026 alleging that they had received a credible information about sale of cow meat at the backyard of the house of the accused. When the police reached the spot, accused ran away. The police thereafter obtained a report from the veterinary officer, confirmed that the meat was of the cow. And accordingly conducted the panchanama and submitted the

same before the Jurisdictional Magistrate. The accused was apprehended on 16.03.2026. 3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that no grounds of arrest has been furnished to the accused. That accused has been falsely shown to have absconded while he is a permanent resident carrying on the real estate business. He has got no business of any nature whatsoever of meat sale as alleged. 4. Learned counsel for the petitioner further submits that he is the only earning member in the family and that his wife is in hospital. He is admitted to hospital. He has got three small kids to take care. He would abide any condition that may be imposed. Hence, seeks for allowing of the petition. 5. Learned HCGP on the other hand brings to the notice of the Court to page No.25 of the petition, which indicate eight cases have been filed against the petitioner and opposes the petition. 6. 7. Allegation against the accused is that he was selling the meat of the cow in the backyard of his house, which was seized by the police on 08.01.2026. However, the accused has been arrested on 16.03.2026. Though the accused is stated to have been involved in similar cases, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he has already been enlarged on bail in those cases. That in one of the cases he has been acquitted on imposition of fine. 8.
Considering the allegations made in the complaint date and timing of his arrest and also the grounds of he not having served with the grounds of arrest as required under law, this Court deems it appropriate to grant bail. 9. Accordingly, following:
ORDER
(i) Criminal Petition is allowed.
(ii) The accused/petitioner is directed to be enlarged on bail in Crime No.3/2026 registered by Moodabidre Police Station for the offences punishable under Section 111 of BNS, 2023 and Sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of

Cow slaughter and Cattle Prevention Act, 2020, subject to following conditions: a) The accused/petitioner shall execute personal bond for a sum of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs Only) with two sureties for the likesum, to the satisfaction of the jurisdictional Court. b) The accused/petitioner shall appear regularly on all the dates of hearing before the Trial Court unless the Trial Court exempts his appearance for valid reasons. c) The accused/petitioner shall not directly or indirectly threaten or tamper with the prosecution witnesses. d) The accused/petitioner shall not involve in similar offence. If found so, this bail order shall stand cancelled. e) The accused/petitioner shall not leave the jurisdiction of the Trial Court without permission of the said Court until the case registered against him is disposed off.
