Read this order in continuation of and in conjunction with earlier order dated 14.07.2026, where we have recorded that the convict will avail leave with escort as this is the first instance where he has been granted leave. 2. Hence, we confirm, order dated 11.06.2025 granting leave of 21 days with escort. Since learned counsel for petitioner, on instructions, says that the cost of escort cannot be borne by the convict or his family, let poverty certificate be produced in line with Rule 16 of the Tamil Nadu Suspension of Sentence Rules, 1982 which states as follows:
“16.Escort at Government cost- The cost of the police escort shall be born in full by the Government if the relative of the petitioner who makes the petition produces a poverty certificate from an officer of the Revenue Department not lower in rank than that of Tahsildar. In such case, the amount if deposited in advance with the Superintendent of Prisons shall be refunded.” 3.We direct the authorities to grant leave to the convict within two days on receipt of poverty certificate from the petitioner, on imposition of conditions. 4.This writ petition stands disposed.
