Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that pursuant to the Amendment Act, 2021, made to the Karnataka Certain Inams Abolition and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Act, 2021, (for short, 'Inams Abolition Act'), which was notified in the Gazette on 18.01.2022, the petitioner filed applications on 18.01.2023 seeking re-grant of 3 acres 16 guntas of land in Survey No.4 of Menasinahalli Village, Kottagere Hobli, Kunigal - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:3031 WP No. 32619 of 2025 Taluk, Tumkur District and land measuring an extent of 16 guntas in Sy.No.143 situated at Ramabanahanta Village, Kasaba Hobli, Kunigal Taluk, Tumkur District as found at Annexures-F and G. 3. This Court on an earlier occasion had dealt with a similar matter wherein subsequent to the amendment made to the Inams Abolition Act the petitioner therein had filed applications for regrant. This Court, while granting relief to the petitioner therein had directed the Tahsildar to consider the representation. 4. Therefore in view of the amendment brought to the Inams Abolition Act, and the observations of this Court on an earlier occasion, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner herein is entitled to receive similar benefit. 5. Consequently, the writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3-Tahsildar, Kunigal Taluk, to consider the applications filed by the petitioner dated 18.01.2023 and formally pass necessary orders in accordance with law. The entire exercise shall be completed as - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:3031 WP No. 32619 of 2025 expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
