1. Leave is granted to the learned Advocate-on-record of the petitioner to add the Additional Secretary, School Education Department, Government of West Bengal as a party respondent to the instant writ petition and amend the cause title in course of the day.
2. The petitioner had applied for transfer some time in the year 2024 through the proper channel. The application of the petitioner was before the respondent no.3. The said application was thereafter forwarded by the West Bengal Regional School Service Commission both to the Commissioner of School Education, West Bengal and to the Additional Secretary, School Education Department, Government of West Bengal on January 9, 2025 and February 6, 2025 respectively. In view of the petitioner’s serious illness, the applications ought to have been
disposed of more expeditiously. The application is pending since January 2025 with the afore-stated authorities.

3. In view thereof, the Additional Secretary, School Education Department, Government of West Bengal is directed to dispose of the prayer of the petitioner seeking transfer by May 15, 2026. The resultant order of consideration by the afore- stated authority should be communicated to the petitioner and the school authorities by May 20, 2026.
4. With the afore-stated directions, the writ petition is
disposed of.
5. There shall be no order as to costs.
6. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertaking.
